There may not be one magic solution for long luscious locks, but these tips will help you on your journey to growing longer hair.

Avoid Heat Styling and Dye

Try to skip heat styling and hair dye altogether as they both can have negative effects on hair growth. If you use heat tools, lower the temperature and use a heat protectant to avoid damaging your hair. Hair dye may not directly inhibit hair growth, but it may cause hair loss due to the drying chemicals that can cause strands to become brittle and break.

Focus on Scalp

Use a brush to evenly distribute your scalp’s oils to keep it moisturized. You can also spend some time massaging your scalp to increase blood flow. Not only does this activate hair growth, but this act of self-care can also be a mood booster, relieving stress that negatively affects hair growth.

Eat a Hair-Healthy Diet

You can promote hair growth by eating certain foods or using supplements. Reduce shedding by incorporating more protein into your diet. Additionally, foods containing vitamins A, C, and E, minerals like zinc and iron, and omega-3 fatty acids can contribute to healthier and longer hair.

Upgrade Your Shower Routine

Hot water and hair aren’t a good combination. Finish your shower with a cool water rinse to seal your hair cuticles. This strengthens your strands, making your mane grow faster. Also, be sure to keep your locks well-conditioned to avoid splits.

Loosen Up

Skip the tight ponytail and rock a low pony instead. High-tension styles cause trauma to the hair follicles, especially if you wear them often. This can lead to losing hair instead of lengthening it.

Use Hair Oils

Try out different hair oils that promote hair growth to lengthen your mane. Consider using castor or argan oil, which contains properties that can make your hair grow faster, stronger, smoother and healthier. Massage your hair with your chosen oil, put on a shower cap, and sleep with the treatment overnight. The next morning wash your hair as you normally would.

Frequent Trims

Split ends break hair and can lead to a loss of hair length. Plus, this sign of damaged hair can make your hair more susceptible to further breakage, hindering growth. A visit to your Tarro stylist (when we reopen) for regular trims will rid your mane of split ends to keep your hair growing.
